Don't be so fast to judge. There were a bunch of interesting gameplay concepts that looked very interesting, and I doubt the graphics are final.

I doubt you've ever played the game narbacular drop, but it looked like a butt. Still, without it we wouldn't have had the main gameplay element in portal.

I'm much more interested with the coop/versus and the weapon charging/shielding and teleportation shown in the game. Interesting concepts for a shmup.

Scratch proof discs aren't exclusive to blu-ray. It's just more necessary with blu-ray because it's more affected by scratches.

You can use the coating they use on blu-ray disks on most optical media. It's called Durabis. Check it.

name one that isn't size.

Find one source where anybody from M$ says that HD-DVD (meaning HD-DVD as opposed to blu-ray, not meaning a high definition disk media) is necessary.

Obviously they thought everybody "needed" it so bad they decided not to put it in their consoles.

Using this:
http://www.crunchgear.com/2...

The average size of an Xbox 360 game (including total size of multi disk games not per disk sizes)is 5.8gb

The largest game is 6.8gb. That means the average game is 85% of the size of the largest per disk game. So the same point stands using 85% of the available space to developers.

The average size of a 360 game is around 70% of a DVD9. Why would they compress it to "within an inch of its life" to reach 70%?

Because it's just too costly right now to develop the amount of content needed to fill a blu-ray disk with anything meaningful. Outside of pre-rendered media, the engines just aren't powerful enough yet to use content that would make blu-ray necessary.

Next gen, when hardware is upped again, and artists can start having more free reign on their content, then it might be a bigger deal.

Right now it's just too expensive to fill a 50gb disk with meaningful content.

Are you retarded?

Sony's shares were at $40 when the PS3 launched. They are now at $25.70.

M$ was at around $25 and is now at $19.

It's not like this stuff is hard to google.

edit: here check it out...

maybe you shouldn't whine about games needing better graphics if you only buy old games?

bioshock looked better than almost anything out when it was released.

When's the last time you went into oblivion and went on top of a mountain and looked down?

You can see across almost the whole world, and what's more, you can then walk all the way to wherever you see. It's not perfect, but it was also released within the first year of the 360, and I've yet to see another game to get that kind of visual scale. Fallout similarly, but there's less stuff to really look at, so it's not quite as fun to look around.

Then you have multi pla...

When a lot of people look at games, they forget it's a business. People don't make games just because they enjoy it. People have to make a living doing it too.

publicly traded companies have a responsibility to maximize profits for their investors too. That includes first party studios. If you want to find good quality games, probably the best place to look is in privately owned studios.

you didn't play bioshock, dead space, or fallout?

6269d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

your NDA had a clause in it that you couldn't say which studio you were at?

Most NDA's usually only cover things like gameplay elements or game information given while ur there.

There hasn't been any gameplay footage of alan wake shown just screens, and there's only been like 1 trailer of heavy rain shown.

There's really no way to make a graphics comparison between the two and it be in any way legitimate.

greenburg just looks bad because a lot of his quotes are taken ridiculously out of context.

I'm pretty sure they made a new engine for Alan Wake too dude.

@Gwave

like the guy above said. One developer had ~150 people working 5 years. One has 30 people 5 years. Either way, just based off what remedy has shown, the game looks great.

The only thing I'm worried about with the game is how well it will translate to gameplay.

I know it's personal opinion, but in the article by the same site earlier, they said they liked the shape of the 360 controller more.

So that would mean each controller has a better shape than the other controller?
